Trivia:
As a member of the Lecarde family who are related to the Belmont clan, Eric's life is intertwined with fighting against the creatures of darkness. After defeating Dracula from the past, he once again set into battle as another vampire named Brauner tried to revive Castlevania through the souls of those who died in World War II. He is the current wielder of the holy weapon, the Alucard Spear.

Castlevania Portrait of Ruin is the second game of the series to appear on the Nintendo DS, followed by Dawn of Sorrow. While Dawn of Sorrow stuck very close to the Castlevania template and only adds a few trivial touch-screen features.
