Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
1) Is it true that Yam Koo and Tai Ho are brothers-in-law according to Richmond's investigation? Then why Tai Ho's wife, Kimberley have a secret crush on Yam Koo who was supposedly her brother?
Yam Koo and Tai Ho are not brothers-in-law but rather "oath brothers." In short, they are not connected to each other until they made an oath to become brothers. Kimberley is not related to Yam Koo in anyway. This is probably one of the developer's translation errors.
2) Can I get all character investigations in just one game?
No. There is one trick though, wherein you can have them all. Use Gameshark codes to get all characters so you can have their investigations in Richmond's list, too.
3) Does the young McDohl has his own investigations?
Unfortunately, there is none.
Although Tir McDohl is one of those non-Star characters like Makumaku, Mekumeku, Mikumiku, Mokumoku, Roludia and Chuchara, yet he has no entries in Richmond's investigations. It may have been due to the fact that he doesn't stay in Dunan Castle at all.
4) In the investigation for Templeton, Richmond mentioned that he will go back to "Tora Castle." Where is that place?
"Tora" is undoubtedly a misspelled word for "Toran." Toran Castle is the headquarters of the Liberation Army during the Gate Rune War. Templeton was one of the members of the Liberation Army who also belonged to the Stars of Destiny.
5) Why does Anita's fourth investigation does not appear in Richmond's investigation list?
Anita's fourth investigation will only be available when you recruit Valeria in the Allied Army instead of Kasumi. The information reveals some details about Valeria, maybe that's why she is a prerequisite character on this particular investigation.
Tips and Tricks:
1) Before the event in Tinto begins be sure to complete all of Ridley's investigations before accepting the mission. This is to make sure that you can have his info before you are given the option to choose either him or Boris as the member of the Stars of Destiny.
2) Complete Kiba and Nanami's investigations before the retaking of Rockaxe begins. Once they died, there is no way you can investigate them anymore.
3) Did you know that Richmond comes back every 10 minutes from the moment you commissioned an investigation for him? So be sure to check him when ten or more minutes passed by.
Fun Facts:
1) Richmond, on his investigation to Badeaux, revealed that the beastmaster is sometimes seen in the castle's rooftop feeding the pigeons. Despite this tad information, there is no way you can find him there nor in any place at the Dunan Castle throughout the course of the game.
2) Kiba is a great general famed for his almost insurmountable defense. The fact that he repulse 3000 hardened veterans of the City-States in Fort Retto with just 100 men is a mark of his undeniable skills in defensive tactics. His "Heavy Armor" ability also enables him to survive more damage in the battlefield than usual units can endure. That is why it is no big surprise why Shu chose him among the Allied Army generals to become the decoy in the Mercenary Fort, while the rest is retaking Matilda Knightdom from Highland control.
3) In Suikoden 1, the former Scalet Moon Empire is famous for its Five Imperial Generals namely Kwanda Rosman, Milich Oppenheimer, Teo McDohl, Kasim Hazil and Sonya Shulen. But did you know that there are actually six of them? Prior to the Toran Liberation War, Georg Prime was originally a member of the Six Great Imperial Generals, but he left to travel the lands. This explains why he was not present during those days.
Note:
Richmond had his own opinion in almost all secrets revealed. In Secret #1 he used to say, "First, the results of the basic investigation." While in Secret #2, Secret #3 and Secret #4, he used to say, "That's all I could find out..." All other comments, reactions and arguments of Richmond aside from what were aforementioned shall be added in this guide.
For the purpose of this guide, Riou is the given name for the main protagonist of the game. While Allied is the given name for the Army and Dunan for the castle.
Some translation errors and misspelled words were edited to avoid confusion. Names of characters are also arranged alphabetically for easy browsing and quick search.
